It could be the status of the blanks. It can help to burn at a lower speed. Some DVD players just will not read DVD + R correctly and do less harm with DVD-R and some are in the other direction. It could also be the software you use.

If you want to burn any pictures to DVD with family music, then play well on home DVD player, you should use the right software to create video DVD

Why does a Dvd-R not hold up to light scratches where a store bought dvd with scratches plays ok?
I loaned out a Dvd-R someone made me & it came back with some luminous scratches & now the second half wont play at all it freezes & breaks up i even had it buffed out & still got the same follow-up. I bought a new dvd today that has scratches
