Dreaming of the West
Here's a breaking expos story: When I get hot, I get cranky. Remember that. It will be important later.
It was July 16, just the B day of our vacation to Colorado. The destination was Michael's idea. After pricing flights to both coasts, we unequivocal that a driving vacation was our cheapest option. I lobbied for Chicago with its museums and shopping, but he was uncompromising that he wanted to see mountains. His sister was generous enough to offer us her condo outside of Vail. I knew safer than to get between Michael and a deal, so I relented.
And then so did the air conditioning in our car -- in the middle of Nebraska --with the heat measure hovering somewhere between surface of the sun and the fires of Hades.
For those of you keeping score, that's two years in a row that our car's AC died while we were on vacation. In 2010, we were ethical outside of Kansas City when the compressor in our Honda CRV exploded leaving a path of shrapnel along the freeway that doubtlessly shredded tires for days.
