Name your TOP 3 VINTAGE COOKBOOKS and what would you like to have in your cookbook library?

Having cookbooks about for decades, I discovered that the vintage "from scratch" recipe cookbooks are the best. Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Fannie Yeoman, McCalls, Better Homes and Gardens .....

Betty Crocker I have a set that belonged to my grandmother. It was the conquest of the recipes! People used to eat things is amazing. I still use it when I'm looking for something different and decadent.

Can Anyone Help Me In Finding A Specific Vintage Betty Crocker Cookbook From The 50s or 60s?

The one I am looking for is a big 5 tinkling binder of recipes that is covered in a red and white gingham pattern NOT a red and white floral paragon like most of them from that time.

My grandmother had one when I was little and I want to

I about Better Homes and Gardens were the only ones to have gingham covers - I did lots of searches through images

Looking for vintage good housekeeping cookbook?

I have a very old Correct Housekeeping cookbook that includes a wartime supplement. The outside of the book has the same checkered pattern that haler homes and gardens cookbook has. The problem is this book was vandalized during the process of moving

Keeping cool with retro recipes

Using one of the vintage sherbet, bombshell, ice cream or parfait recipes above, make a frozen dessert, chilling it either in a makeshift icebox (a cooler full of ice might drudgery well and we'll just pretend the dude with the tongs dropped by) or using the coffee can method below. For refuge's sake, if you're using eggs or dairy, make sure it stays below 40°F lest ye die of "summer complaint" or something equally nasty.

Plate it up all pretty, take a imagine and either post it in the comments or on your own blog and leave a link in our comments. As we have in the past , we'll willingly, giddily, gleefully link to your blog and show the world just how cool our readers indeed are. Get churning!

The Coffee Can Method

Pour your mixture into a 1 lb coffee can and seal it tightly.

Spot that can into a 3 lb coffee can, layer ice and rock salt around it and seal that tightly as well. Roll the large can between your feet or between two people for 10-15 minutes.
