Mario Parial's 'Majore': An enchantment, a magical tour of paradise
It is a on cloud nine suffuse with music, where the chirping of birds at break of day greet the fish vendor, the blossom maiden, and the mother and her child; where tables overflow with food and a jester flute in possession mesmerizes passersby; where a young swain strums his lute to lull a young lady to slumber; where angels pull off in a burst of colors. Mario Parial paints these visions of enchantment, a magical enlistment of a tropical paradise in Majore, a collection he unveils at 6:30 p.m. on October 12 at Galerie Joaquin Crucial in San Juan.
A Parial exhibit is always a much-awaited event among art lovers not only in Manila where this foremost style painter has a huge following but even among art collectors in the U.S. and Europe who find resonance in the unabashedly folk and Filipino nuances of his art.
