will the canon xsi work with the tokina 11-16mm lens?

I currently rising up to defy canon xsi .. I was curious if anyone knew if the objective is to work on this camera in particular?

Yes, that Tokina UWA (ultra wide angle) lenses work with the Canon XSi - if you get the lens with the Canon mount.

As long as you buy the Canon version of this goal, it will be fine and autofocus works normally. The question autofocus you mentioned only applies to Nikon's entry-level engines lack the AF in the body.

I currently own:
-Canon T1i (I have owned other cameras earlier)
-Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (kit lens)
-Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS
-Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II

I feel my skills and wants are not met by

Start with new lenses, but tidy up sure they are EF lenses only, not EF-S.

You are right, your two zooms are nothing special, but they wouldn't fit your new full frame camera.

So that means either spending a property in one

All off the mark angle lenses create some distortion.

How "astounding" the image will be is entirely up to you and your decisions about lighting and composition, not the lens. That said, the promptly lens may determine whether or not the shot you want is possible. For architecture, I like ulltrawide

Since you are planning on using dazzling (based on having answered your flash question) either lens will be suitable since both are an f2.8 unfaltering aperture. It just depends on how wide you want to go.
Just remember to apply the 1.6 "crop
